Coral Reefs in their Natural Habitat
Hi all! Just wanted to pass along some great images of coral reefs and the fish that live among them - in it's most natural form! Arjan, a reader of of my eZine/blog, personally took these pictures! I thought you'd also like to look at them!
Reef damage as a result of the Tsunami on the east coast of Sri Lanka.
This is 'Bar Reef' which is in the northwest part of Sri Lanka. It's in the Gulf of Mannar and some of these areas were bleached heavily in 1998 but the recovery is coming along. The return of the Collare Butterfly fish is proof that the reef is recovering.
Arjan works as a researcher for the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency, also known as NARA. It's a research arm of the Ministry of Fisheries in Sri Lanka.
If you or someone you know lives near any coast and would like to share with readers of my eZine/blog any pictures that you may have of the reef in it's natural form, let me know!
Talk to you soon.
To your reef keeping success!
Humbly,
Eric
