Pacific coral reefs dying . . . !?
An Associated Press report indicates that coral reefs are dying faster than expected. The climate change is among reasons for this decline . . .
Coral reefs in much of the Pacific Ocean are dying faster than previously thought, according to a study released Wednesday, with the decline driven by climate change, disease and coastal development.
Researchers from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill found that coral coverage in the Indo-Pacific - an area stretching from Indonesia's Sumatra island to French Polynesia - dropped 20 percent in the past two decades.
About 600 square miles of reefs have disappeared since the 1960s, the study found, and the losses were just as bad in Australia's well-protected Great Barrier Reef as they were in poorly managed marine reserves in the Philippines.

very interesting article - it's sad to hear about all those beautiful coral reefs dying out.
Here's my view on the whole global warming thing though:
I believe global warming is a natural cycle .. with it comes things like coral reefs dying. When the earth begins cooling again, I bet the coral population will recover again, and then die off partially as it gets too cold, only to recover yet again when the temperature rises (and so on...).
there's an overwhelming amount of evidence for it (although the part about coral reefs dying and recovering due to the warming/cooling is just my theory - we always need to be trying to reduce pollution in the oceans.)
Anyways, I'm seeing more and more people, who had strongly believed that global warming was a human-caused event, realize that it's simply a political issue - there's little/no scientific evidence to show that our CO2 emissions are causing it - Which reminds me, there are volcanoes all over the earth that emit more CO2 in one eruption than all of mankind has emitted in all of history. And also, Mars just so happens to be having a global warming like here on earth - I seriously doubt we can blame the Martians for that!
that being said, I still believe we should be good care-takers of the earth - polluting the oceans is one of the many things we constantly need to be worried about. I just don't think there's anything we can do about global warming.
